20. Successes & Best Practices Strong commitment and project management from client/L&P
Communication & planning
Dedicated project team, e.g., IT, Documentation
Realistic expectations of the product
Not underestimating time and resources needed – gave ourselves plenty of time for project
Running parallel systems (old and new)
No data conversion
Stay current on patches
Benchmark with other companies that are implementing or using OLM
Go to industry conferences (such as OHUG) to make contacts, to learn best practices, and to discover creative ways to use OLM
21. Challenges/Lessons Learned Creating & Running Reports
Updating Assessments
Not everything found a home in OLM
Need to be creative with setups to get what you want
Don’t underestimate resources needed to support during and after implementation
Plan early if you are going to use a content server
Recruit people outside of the project to test
Get all end users involved from L&P to validate set-ups (mandatory participation, if necessary) needed custom views and the challenge of pulling data from Access database and OLM
Assessments – question banks, test sections
Not everything found a home- still need to use company Intranet for some marketing (e.g., class calendar, trainer bios), track new compliance training in vendor database, use Survey Monkey for Level I evaluations
Need to be creative - (blended learning, library)
Support - for decision-making, reporting, set-ups, documentation.
