The Five Pillars Muslims obey Five Pillars as a sign of their belief. The Five Pillars are: • Shahadah (what they believe); (2) Salah (prayer); (3) Zakat (giving money); (4) Sawm (fasting during Ramadan); (5) Hajj (journey to Makkah).
Shahadah • The first of the Five Pillars. • Shahadah what Muslims believe, There is no God but Allah; Muhammad (pbuh) is the messenger of Allah.
Salah • Prayer. • Salah is when Muslims pray 5 times a day. • The Prophet prayed five times each day. • These prayers are compulsory for Muslims
Zakat • Giving to charity • Muslims must do this. • The amount each Muslim pays depends on how much money they have.
Sawm • Fasting during Ramadan. • During Ramadan all adult Muslims must fast from dawn to sunset every day for 28 days. • Fasting means they must not eat or drink.
Hajj • The pilgrimage to Makkah • Muslims must make the pilgrimage at least once in their lifetime. • It lasts for two weeks and ends with an Id celebration.
