Good Scripture Promise (NIV) • “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jer. 29: 11-13)

Scripture readings (NRSV) • And this is the boldness we have in him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have obtained the requests made of him. (1 John 5: 14-15) • How can young people keep their way pure? By guarding it according to your word... I treasure your word in my heart, so that I may not sin against you. (Ps. 119: 9, 11)

Why pray Scripture? • 1) Scripture is the written Word of God • 2) When you pray Scripture, you will pray according to God’s will • 3) God will grant those requests that are according to His will • 4) This in turn will build up your faith in God and in the reliability of His Word

Suggested method: • 1) Find a specific verse of Scripture that fits your need • 2) Pray the Scripture verse out loud to God, and personalize the Scripture • 3) By faith, thank God for hearing your prayer and appropriate that Scripture verse

Sharing Scripture with one another is a good way of fellowship – with God and with one another • The example of the early church: “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer” (Acts 2:42 NIV)

使徒行傳 2:42 • 42 都恆心遵守使徒的教訓，彼此交接，擘餅，祈禱。

The Bible tells us that if we meditate on Scripture and obey His word, God will make us prosperous and successful • “Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” (Josh. 1:8)

約書亞記 1:8 • 8 這律法書不可離開你的口，總要晝夜思想，好使你謹守遵行這書上所寫的一切話。如此，你的道路就可以亨通，凡事順利。

Example: Fear • You are afraid of the future, of financial insecurity, of your health, etc. • 2 Scriptures dealing with Fear: • “I sought the LORD and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.” (Ps. 34:4) • “So do not fear for I am with you; do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isa. 41:10)

Sample Prayer • Pray Psalm 34:4 • “Dear God, I thank You that You will help me in time of need. I’m afraid about my future and I feel anxious. I claim Your Word in Ps. 34:4, ‘I sought the LORD, and You answer me, You deliver me from all my fears.’ Remove all my fears. I trust in You. Replace my fear with faith and peace. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Example: Anger • Pray these Scriptures (NIV): • “In your anger do not sin: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.” (Eph. 4: 26-27) • “Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” (Eph. 4: 31-32)

Sample Prayer Dear God, I’m very angry at ______ for hurting me. What he did was wrong. I want to obey Your Word. You told me, “Do not let the sun go down on my anger.” I give up all my anger and frustration to You. Please replace my anger with forgiveness and peace. I forgive those who have wronged me just as You have forgiven me so many times. Lord Jesus, You were wronged and slandered, and You completely understand. I entrust this situation and this person into Your hands, according to Your justice. You will deal with the evil person according to Your ways and appointed time. I trust in You as my Judge. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4: 6-7)

Psalm 23: 1-4 (NIV) • “The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me.”

Remember to pray God’s Word • Meditate upon the verses of Scripture that pertain to your needs • Pray that Scripture out loud to God and personalize it • Trust that God will fulfill His promises in due time; meanwhile be faithful and obey Him

When you meditate and pray God’s Word on a continual basis, you’ll see God blessing your prayer life, you’ll experience amazing answers to prayer, and your whole prayer life will be completely revitalized!

You’ll see yourself grow spiritually and the whole fellowship within Can2 to grow. You’ll experience true fellowship with God and with one another • You’ll sense the greater presence of the Holy Spirit and God will make you effective in all that you do for Him
