Also, congratulations to Romeo Liong-A-SAN, FMU Business Manager, for winning the OSFA raffle prize during the FAPSC Conference!

Disaster Assistance • Institutions affected by Hurricane Charley may refer to the Dear Colleague Letter issued by The U.S. Department of Education in February 2004 which provides guidance to assist Title IV participants, including students, borrowers, institutions, lenders, and guaranty agencies in the event they are impacted by a disaster. The DCL may be viewed at: • http://ifap.ed.gov/dpcletters/GEN0404.html
Mapping Your Future • Mapping Your Future has posted their Chat Schedule for the 2004/2005 Academic Year. These live chats are a great way to speak to a counselor and have your questions answered -- all from the convenience of a computer! Topics range from completing the FAFSA, Loan Consolidation, Online Education, College Admissions, Debt Management Strategies, and More! You can view the Chat Schedule at: http://www.mapping-your-future.org/services/chatnight.htm
Record Keeping Requirements • Many institutions outsource their record keeping, data reporting, and file storage duties to a third-party servicer of which some charge a fee for accessing student information. In light of this growing trend, school administrators must take steps to insure that Guarantors and Lenders are afforded access to school information upon request (and at no charge) pursuant to Federal Regulations (34 CFR 668.14(b)(7), 34 CFR 682.401(b)(20)). Where access to student information is coordinated by a third-party servicer, school administrators should designate an internal point of contact for lender and guarantor requests.
Transcript Holds • Florida Statute 1009.95 (5) Delinquent Accounts states: No individual borrower who has been determined to be in default in making legal scholarship loan, student loan, or guaranteed loan repayments shall be furnished with academic transcripts or other student records until such time as the loan is paid in full and the default status has been removed.
