2. Bird & Co Bird & Co is an executive and non-executive search firm specialising in consumer facing businesses. Founded in 1981, we have worked for a range of clients in the FTSE 350, as well as conducting searches for private equity backed companies and NFP arts organisations. Our expertise is broad and covers the media, entertainment, global communication, digital and leisure industries. We also specialise in finding female Non-executive Directors and mentoring talented female executives for their first Non-executive role (see page 13) Regardless of sector, our raison d’être is simple: to find talented executives and non-executives and help our clients build the Boards and management teams that they need.

6. Bird & Co Group Isabel Bird CEO Isabel established Bird & Co in 1981 to specialise in senior level executive and non-executive search and leadership consultancy in consumer facing companies. Isabel graduated with distinction from the American University School of Business. She began her career in general management with AT&T before joining Kenton Corporation where she was responsible for marketing their high-end international retailers, including Cartier and Georg Jensen. After six years in this role, she moved to London where she managed the UK division of a US-based search company before starting her own business. • She is a founding partner of Board & Executive Mentoring and Chair of The Coaching House. • Isabel is a member of the Marketing Group of Great Britain and Save Venice, Inc., and is Patron of the BAFTA Academy Circle , International Friends of La Fenice and the Royal Television Society. She is also a MBTI Qualified Practitioner. Catherine Hearn Partner Catherine began her career in executive search as a generalist researcher at GKR before moving to Heidrick & Struggles as an Associate. After two years she re-joined GKR in the consumer sector before making the move to Bird & Co International in 2000. She has extensive experience across the media and marcomms practices. Catherine graduated from Essex University with a degree in English and European Literature and prior to starting in search in 1993 worked in various FMCG marketing roles.

In the past five years we have been instrumental in placing over 40 female candidates as Executive and Non-executive Directors across a range of roles and sectors. In addition nine of the 30 women who have gone through the Glass Ladder Programme with Bird & Co Board & Executive Mentoring in the past year have gone on to gain their first Non-executive Directorship.
