What is the IPMSA? • Illinois Podiatric Medical Student Association • Governing Body of Scholl – oversees ACFAS, AAWP, SNPMA, class officers, and other groups. • Oversees Dance for Diabetes and other Scholl sponsored events. • Acts as an intermediary between IPMA and students, as well as surrounding states. • Class elections and IPMSA elections coming soon…

  3. What is the APMSA? • American Podiatric Medical Student Association • 1 delegate per class, at each of the 9 podiatry schools. • Purpose? To act as the intermediary between the APMA and students. • Delegates attend 3 national meetings per year. Upcoming meetings in Arizona (January), DC (March) and Seattle (July). • Elections for your class coming soon. If you are interested in politics, this is for you!

What is the APMA PAC? • PAC stands for “Political Action Committee” • APMA PAC is a fund that gets distributed to political candidates in Congress (Independent, Democrat, and Republican) that supports the ideals and legislative goals of the APMA. • Where does this money come from? Current podiatrists and YOU!

  5. Why Contribute to APMA PAC? • Think of it as an investment in your future career. The APMA PAC ensures the survival of our profession and ensures that our voices are heard. • Every $20 dollars you contribute gets you 1 raffle ticket for a chance to win $1000 • $25 gets you an APMA PAC pin • Any donation gets you listed in APMA News • We have a goal of $2,160 from SCPM 2013!

  6. Issues and Where Do We Stand? I. Accreditation requirement exemption for DMEPOS Status: PASSED as of 7/1/2008 II. Equal recognition as physicians in Medicaid Law (Title XIX) Status: ONGOING as of 8/14/2009 III. 20/220 Pathway (Loan Deferment) Status: ONGOING IV. Vision 2015 Status: ONGOING THE SURVIVAL OF THESE LEGISLATIVE EFFORTS DEPENDS ON YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS TO APMA PAC
