What is Exempt? • Articles • Consumer/Retail Products – packaged, used, stored same as in the consumer home • Personal Consumption Products • Foods, drugs, cosmetics
What is Exempt? • Tobacco and tobacco products • Research & Development Areas – certain provisions apply • Teaching and testing activities • Technically qualified person • MSDSs must be made available to employees in R&D areas
Hazardous Substance Survey Form - HSSF • List of all hazardous, special and environmental hazards in the workplace with identifying CAS Numbers • Must be updated annually by April 1 • Must be posted in the workplace • Cannot complete without MSDSs for products in the workplace – cross reference to PA HSL
Material Safety Data Sheet • Documents prepared by chemical manufacturers, suppliers, distributors • Used to determine if a product is regulated (contains substance on PA list) and should be listed on the HSSF
Material Safety Data Sheet • Lists information regarding the following: • Specific Chemical Ingredients (CAS#) • Physical Hazards • Health Hazards • Routes of Exposure • Precautions for safe handling and use • Emergency and First Aid procedures
