Graduated Cylinders: • Units: mL (metrics) • Never measure at supply table • Keep near the center of your work area. Keep the plastic guard (ring) above the numbers. • Have eyes level with liquid read measurement at the bottom of the curve called the meniscus.
Nevermix chemicals in the graduated cylinder. Use test tubes or beakers for this. • Immediately rinse them out when finished measuring. Use brushes to clean with. • Wash before and after measuring. • Remember the following readings for the different sizes: • each line on a 10mL graduated cylinder equals 0.2mL. • each line on a 25mL graduated cylinder equals 0.5mL. • each line on a 100mL graduated cylinder equals 1mL
