  1. Weather Reporter Training Pack Lesson 1

  2. Weather Forecasting Training Course • You have been successfully enrolled onto a Weather Forecaster Training Course. The course runs for 5 hours and at the end of the course, you will have all the skills needed to present the Weather on National Television! • You will need to complete a portfolio of work before you are presented with the MeteorologyAchievement Award. • Click on the sun to find out your first portfolio task.

  3. Topic 1 ~ The Role of the Weather Presenter • Your first hour will develop your understanding of what skills a Weather Presenter has, and what jobs they undertake. • For your portfolio, you need to complete a MindMap of these skills and jobs. A template has been produced for you, but feel free to be creative! • Click here for the template • Stuck for ideas – click on the sun!

  4. Mind Map Ideas • Your Mind Map should reflect all the different skills a weather presenter has. Consider visiting www.bbc.co.uk/weather to learn more about weather forecasts. • You might also like to visit http://www.oup.co.uk/oxed/secondary/geog.123/geog2/chapter2/page3/ (see your teacher for the password) for more help on the tasks weather presenters have to do. • Finally, a great way to explain a skill or task is to use maps or diagrams. • Once you have finished, click on the sun!

  5. Finished? Check List Time! • Your work this hour should include the following: • A Completed Mind Map • The Mind Map should have the following Details: • Your Name • Skills needed • Jobs carried out • Relevant Maps and Diagrams • Print and save your work!
