1930 Let’s Get Down to Business • First Official Dress uniform adopted • Membership restricted to boys
1933 FFA Jacket • Blue corduroy jacket adopted
1935 New Farmers of America • NFA founded for African Americans in Tuskegee, AL
1950 Public Law 81-740 • Law is passed that grants FFA a national charter
1965 NFA & FFA merge • New Farmers of America and Future Farmers of America merge to form a stronger organization
1969 Girls allowed • FFA votes to open membership to girls
1973 Official Dress • Official Dress Standards are adopted
1974 Fred McClure elected • Fred McClure (TX) is the first African-American elected to a national FFA office
1976 Julie Smiley elected • Julie Smiley (WA) is the first female elected to a national FFA office
1982 Jan Eberly elected • Jan Eberly (CA) is the first female National FFA President
1988 Name change • Future Farmers of America changes its name to National FFA Organization
1991 Branching out • FFA chapters in the Virgin Islands and Guam are chartered
1994 Corey Flournoy elected • Corey Flournoy (IL) is the first African-American National FFA President
1996 Website • The official website for FFA launches • www.ffa.org
1998 Jose Santiago elected • Jose Santiago is the first Puerto Rican elected to National FFA Office
2002 Revisions • Official Dress Standards are revised
