Introduction; include • Background comments for Context • Comment on question (if possible) / define terms in the question • Thesis Statement – do you agree, disagree, partly agree (depending on type of question), or just a statement on the importance of the topic if it is a non-argumentative essay • Indicators / indication of the main arguments you will make / use to prove it
Four Body Paragraphs with • Each with a separate topic / point, to prove your thesis • Begin with topic sentence to introduce the main topic / point, followed by supporting sentences, and then a concluding sentence • Try to connect each paragraph to the Thesis Statement and if possible to each other • Make sure to address the question / topics in the prompt, but you may also introduce a topic not mentioned (Political, Social)
Conclusion • Summarize your Thesis Statement • Summarize the main points / arguments you made in each body paragraph • Reach a conclusion • You may foreshadow - by mentioning an event/s that came about as a result or consequence of the theme, thesis of this essay
