  2. Penicillin-VK Phenoxymethylpenicillin, also known as Penicillin VK, is an antibiotic used to treat and prevent bacterial infections. It belongs to the penicillin group and works by killing bacteria. Your doctor prescribed it for infections of the ear, throat, lungs, skin, and soft tissues, and to prevent infections like rheumatic fever or in patients without a spleen or with sickle cell disease.

Penicillin-VK Warning and Precautions • If you know that you are allergic to cephalosporins, other antibiotics, or any ingredients in your medicine. • If you suffer from kidney problems. • If you suffer from any blood disorders. • If you suffer from liver problems. • If you are pregnant, trying for a baby, or breast-feeding.

Penicillin-VK Possible side effects • An allergic reaction can cause shortness of breath, rash, swelling, chills, fever, painful joints, dizziness, and may affect blood and kidneys. • Vomiting or nausea (a feeling of sickness). • Redness of the skin, often itchy, similar to the rash of measles • Stop taking your tablets and inform your doctor immediately if you experience severe and persistent diarrhea, especially if it contains blood. • Numbness or tingling of the hands and feet. 4
