Part 1: Vocabulary • On the following slides you will find definitions for the eight vocabulary words about circles. • The definition will automatically appear when you advance to the slide. • Read the definition and choose the correct word from your flashcards. • Click the slide again to see if you were correct. • Good luck!

  3. Vocabulary #1 • Any line segment that connects the center to a point on the circle • Answer: Radius

  4. Vocabulary #2 • An angle whose vertex is the center • Answer: Central angle

  5. Vocabulary #3 • The distance around the circle • Answer: Circumference

  6. Vocabulary #4 • Any line segment that connects 2 points on the circle • Answer: Chord

  7. Vocabulary #5 • A closed plane figure made up of all the points the same distance from the center • Answer: Circle

  8. Vocabulary #6 • Any line segment through the center that connects 2 points on the circle • Answer: Diameter

  9. Vocabulary #7 • The space enclosed within a circle • Answer: Area

  10. Vocabulary #8 • The middle of the circle; how the circle is named • Answer: Center

  11. Part 2: Vocabulary • On the following slides, you will find pictures of circles. • Use your vocabulary words to identify the part shown. Don’t forget to use the letter names. (ex: line segment AB) • Good luck!
