Poverty • Poverty is pronounced deprivation in well-being. It includes low incomes and the inability to acquire the basic goods and services necessary for survival with dignity. Poverty also encompasses low levels of health and education, poor access to clean water and sanitation, inadequate physical security, lack of voice, and insufficient capacity and opportunity to better one’s life. – World Bank • Poverty level in the US: • 1 person: $11, 170 • 4 people: $23,050 • Global poverty level: • Living on < $2.00 per day
Environment • Combination of physical surroundings and biological life forms. • Natural environment • Built environment

Military Conflict • Violent conflict involving the use of force between countries and/or separatist groups.
Globalization • The development of an increasingly integrated global economy marked especially by free trade, free flow of capital, and the tapping of cheaper foreign labor markets.
Human Rights • All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.
Population Pressures • The issues that come with our ever increasing population (~ 6.8 billion) • Increased birthrate and fertility • Decreased mortality rateand increased life expectancy
