Population Services International's SISTERS program aims to reduce HIV/AIDS cases among transgender individuals in Pattaya by promoting safe sex practices through targeted outreach and support services. The program provides essential knowledge, tools, and a supportive environment for transgender individuals, focusing on behavior change and consistent condom use. Through communication strategies and unique services like drop-in centers and counseling, SISTERS strives to improve the quality of life and health outcomes for the TG community in Pattaya.

Mission of Sisters is To change the behaviors of TG who are at sexual risk and to reduce the number of new HIV/AIDS infected cases among TG. By providing knowledge and information to build awareness about the importance of HIV/AIDS prevention together with social marketing’s strategy
Main objectives • Reduce sex-related risks among transgender people. • Arrange health services specific for transgender people to build better quality of life. • Create a supportive environment for transgender people in the Pattaya area.
Behavior Change Increase the behavior of using condom and lubricant consistently
Communication Messages • Quarter 1 (Jan – Mar 2006) --> Water-based lubricant facilitates condom use and decreases condom breakage. Oil-based lubricant can promote condom breakage. • Quarter 2 (Apr – Jun 2006) --> Having been tested for HIV once does not guarantee permanent HIV-free Status for life (even though the current test result is negative. There is a window period for HIV) • Quarter 3 (Jul – Sept 2006) -->Using a condom has nothingto do with trust (All sexual partners present a risk for HIV/AIDS) • Quarter 4 (Oct – Dec 2006) --> Unplanned sex while drunk on alcohol puts you at risk for HIV infection. be prepared with condoms.
Target Group • Transgender : TG who live in Pattaya • TGSW : Transgender sex • workers • Other transgender such as cabaret show girls and transgender who work in other career.

Counseling Center • A warm and friendly haven for transgender people run by selected and trained transgender people. • Activities and Services ... • TG-specific medical services on site • One to one counseling • Skills development and capacity building • Edutainment: club activities (make-up, sport,& cooking), social gatherings, and events. • Community activities to foster public support and gain greater acceptance of transgenders in society.

Outreach Activities • One to One: In addition to in-house advisory services, Sisters’ counselors reach out to transgender people where they are, with behavior-change messages tailored to individuals.(IPC - Interpersonal Communication) • One to Group: Sisters’ Counselors conduct group activities in places where transgenders live and work.(Mid - media) • Referrals: A network of transgender-friendly, experienced service providers of medical care, health advice, and career counseling.
