European Human Rights Moot Court Competition About the Competition • Simulation of the European Court of Human Rights concerning the violation of the European Convention on Human Rights • Only english MCC on Human Rights europe wide • In cooperation with the Council of Europe • 2 rounds – written pre-rounds and final oral round • Open to all ELSA and CoE Member Countries • Teams: 2 – 4 members per team • Submission for Applicant and Respondent • Oral Pleading for both sides • Only 2 members are allowed to plead

  3. European Human Rights Moot Court Competition The European Court of Human Rights • International court based in Strasbourg • As many judges as there are member states • Member countries: 47 • Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms

  5. European Human Rights Moot Court Competition The Timeline • 15th July 2012 – Launch of the Competition • 15th September 2012 – Clarification Deadline • 31st October 2012 – Team Registration Deadline • 30th November 2012 – Deadline written submissions • 24.-28. February 2013 – Final Oral Round

European Human Rights Moot Court Competition The European Final • 24th until 28th of February 2013 • At the Council of Europe and • the European Court of Human Rights • 16 best qualified teams • Participation Fee for Accommodation, transport, meals, venue, welcome reception, award ceremony • „The Council of Europe prize“ – a traineeship at the European Court of Human Rights for 1 month
