History of MacFarlane Pheasants • Family owned and operated for 2 generations since 1929 • In the 1960’s MacFarlanes started exporting birds • Employs 30 full time and 20 part time employees • MacFarlane’s has 3 divisions: Mature Birds, Day-Old Chicks, & Dressed Products
Mature Pheasants & Partridges • In 2011, MacFarlanes will deliver over 330,000 live mature pheasants & 90,000 live partridges; 55,000 of the birds are delivered to Canada • Mature pheasants & partridges are delivered from the end of August until March
MacFarlane’s Fleet • Our fleet consists of 11 vehicles used for deliveries & 7 additional support vehicles • Kenworth & Freightliner trucks deliver mature birds in the fall and winter months • During April thru August, temperature controlled reefer boxes are installed on our chick delivery vehicles
Day-Old Chicks& Eggs • In 2011, MacFarlanes hatched over 1.4 million chicks and sold over 200,000 eggs • Countries we exported to in 2011: Canada, Denmark, Italy, France, England, & Tajikistan • Chicks are shipped nationwide thru Priority Mail, customers receive them within 2 days
Dressed Products • 3rd Party Certified All Natural • Nationwide purveyor to Whole Foods, approximately 300 grocery stores • Our pheasant was served at President Obama’s inaugural luncheon • Nationwide network of distributors • We have large market penetration in all major metropolitan markets • Our only export market at this time for food products is Mexico
MacFarlane’s Biannual Pheasant Management Seminar • First Pheasant Management Seminar was held in 1998 • Pheasant producers & preserve owners from the U.S., Ireland, England, Israel, France, and Canada attend the seminar
