There are 2 red squares and 6 blue squares The ratio of red squares to blue squares is 2 : 6 This is the same as 1 : 3 The ratio of red squares to blue squares is now 3 : 6 This is the same as 1 : 2
Example The ratio of shaded squares to clear squares is 4 : 8. Ratios can be simplified in the same way as fractions by dividing: 4 : 8 = 1 : 2 (divide both numbers by 4)
