1. Instructions on creating a new official class in ATS with focus on self-contained and CTT The ATS function for creating any new official class is the CMOD

2. Critical Data Elements Grade Code Grade Level Class Code • Three Digit Code • Differentiates general education, self-contained special education and team teaching students. • Two Digit Code • Grade level at which students are to be tested. • Special education and general education students can have the same grade level. The three digit class code (official class) is designated by the school. ie: 702 for the first 7th Grade Official Class.

3. ATS Grade Codes • General education, self-contained and team teaching students have different grade codes. • General Education Grade Codes end in “0”. • Self-Contained Special Education Grade Codes begin with “9” • Team Teaching Grade Codes end in “9”.

4. Self-Contained Special EducationATS and CAP Grade Codes • The ATS self-contained grade code is aligned to the student / teacher ratio. • CAP class codes are three characters. A letter followed by two numbers. For example, the FIRST self-contained in an elementary, secondary school with ATS grade code 951 or 961 will have a CAP class code of E01. The SECOND class created with these grade codes would have a CAP class code of E02. • Elementary/Middle schools CANNOT have two official classes with the SAME CAP code.

Collaborative Team Teaching CAP Codes • Team teaching ATS grade codes (ending in9) have a CAP class code startingwithTfollowed by atwo digit number (T01). • A schools first team teaching class created will have a CAP class code ofT01. The second will have a CAP class code ofT02, and so on. • For example: • The first team teaching class created by a school, a 6th grade team teaching class, would have a ATS class code of 169 and a CAP class code ofT01. • The second team teaching class created, a 7th grade team teaching class would have a CAP class code ofT02.

7. Go to ATS FUNCTION: CMOD Step #1 Link Teacher to class code (official class) Enter class code (the official class) press CTRL Enter the teacher’s last and First name

8. Step # 2 Link Teacher to ATS Official Class Teacher # 1 0999999 Teacher # 2 0999999 Use the TAB key to move your cursor next to Teacher and press F2 to select teacher.

9. Step # 3 Current Class Data Add / Change Screen Enter general education, self-contained or team teaching grade code. Press tab key and fill in each field until you reach the CAP class field Multiple grade codes are allowed. For example, when opening a team teaching class, one general education and one team teaching grade code must be entered. ie. 170(GE) & 179(TT). Enter the CAP class. This creates the link between ATS class code and the CAP class. Press F2 to save.

10. Step # 4 General Education Official Class Enter class code (the official class) press CTRL General education grade code (ends in a 0) No CAP code for general education classes

11. Step # 5 Special Education Official Class Enter class code (the official class) press CTRL Self-contained grade code (Begins with 9) CAP code for self-contained official class
