CLASS CLOSER: On this day in 1981, the Voyager 2 spacecraft made it’s closest approach to the planet Saturn. It discovered that the temperature of the planet ranged from -333.4 to -202 degrees Fahrenheit. The north pole of Saturn was only 10 degrees colder than the entire planet!
