Flying Officer General Descriptions • Functionally equivalent to a Pilot Officer but discharges duties of slightly greater complexity • Assists higher ranking Senior Members in establishing regulations / orders and formulating directions / objectives for Unit's development • Assigns tasks to Other Ranks and NCOs and Review their Performance • Commands a Flight subordinate to a Squadron
Flight Lieutenant General Descriptions • Commands at Unit level • Second-in-Command of a Major Unit • Discharges Staff Duties in a Major Unit • Assigns Tasks to Subordinate Officers and Review their Performance

Senior and Air Officer Senior Officers Air Officer Group Captain • Normally Held by the Commanding Officer (CO) • Charged with the overall direction and administration of the HKACC Air Commodore • The only Air Officer rank in the HKACC • Reserved for the Commandant (Cmdt) - the Titular Head of the Corps and the ranking uniformed officer
Part Three Relationship Between Commissioned Officers and Other Ranks
Officers and Other Ranks (1) Officers Officers command, establish policy, plan and program the work of the unit. Other Ranks Other Ranks conduct the daily business of the unit within established orders, directives and policies.
Officers and Other Ranks (2) Officers Officers concentrate on collective training which will enable the unit to accomplish its mission. Other Ranks Other Ranks concentrate on individual training which develops the capability to accomplish the mission.
Officers and Other Ranks (3) Officers Officers are primarily involved with unit operations, training, and related activities. Other Ranks Other Ranks are primarily involved with training individual cadets and teams.
Officers and Other Ranks (4) Officers Officers concentrate on unit effectiveness and unit readiness. Other Ranks Other Ranks concentrate on each subordinate (Junior Instrs, NCOs and Cadets) and on the small teams of the unit – to ensure that each is well trained, highly motivated, ready and functioning.
Officers and Other Ranks (5) Officers Officers pay particular attention to the standards of performance, training, and professional development of adult members as well as NCOs. Other Ranks Other Ranks concentrate on standards of performance, training, and professional development of Junior Instrs, NCOs and cadets.
Officers and Other Ranks (6) Officers Officers create conditions – makes time and other resources available – so Other Ranks and NCOs can do the job. Other Ranks Other Ranks get the job done.
