Do not depart with snow on your vehicle Lead Drivers are responsible to assure their team has cleared their vehicles Keep blowers and defrosters on at all times These vehicles all have reliable HVAC systems. There is no reason for windows to be frosted or have condensation on the inside. Do not leave the lot without clearing the inside In traffic, keep windows clear at all times. You’ll be following others closely. Make sure you fill washer fluid before your shift
Winter Driving Tips • If the roads are snow/ice covered, DO NOT engage the cruise control • Cruise control will attempt to maintain the set speed. If tires slip or spin - even a little - the system may accelerate to compensate • If it is slippery, you may have to drive an entire shift with NO cruise control • REMEMBER:In case of a skid,releasethe gas pedal and steer in the direction of the skid
Winter Driving Tips • Make sure to provide more space between vehicles for reaction times • Stay in the tracks of vehicles in front of you for better traction • “Anticipate” what traffic ahead will be doing; as you approach intersections, on/off ramps for expressways, lane changes • Look as far out in front of your vehicle as possible – but focus on everything in between that point & your vehicle
