The Discovery Educator Network: • A TEACHER-TO-TEACHER APPROACH • Discovery Education is looking for teachers who are integrating media into classroom curriculum in creative and inspiring ways and would like to share their expertise with others. The Discovery Educator Network is about connecting teachers to their most valuable resource – each other. • Create a forum for teachers to network, exchange ideas, share best practices, and build a community of technology professionals • Provide these teachers with resources for the schools and classrooms, professional development opportunities and access to a local and national community of teachers at the forefront of digital, video-based learning • Invite these teachers to participate in exclusive Discovery Channel events and activities • Inspire these teachers to: • Act as an educational advisor to Discovery • Train and recruit other teachers to participate in the network • Share success stories with the community of teachers • Goal

The Discovery Educator Network: • Local And National Teacher Communities Local communities Educators will be invited to participate in their local communities in various ways • Building and district-level events and trainings held by Discovery’s managers • State-level user events and exclusive sessions at state-level teacher conferences • Teacher-led events with Discovery-provided resources National community Through the online Educator community and select national-level events, users will be able to learn from and share with teachers from across the country: • Online community features • Web-blogs • Discussion Boards • Expert features • Polls and surveys • Uploads of user-created content • National level events • Annual Educator national conference • Special sessions at national level conferences for Educators (ie: NSTA, NECC, NEA)

The Discovery Educator Network has already kicked off some exciting events! • Master Teacher Workshop • 10 Teachers will attend one-day Education Network Master Teacher Workshop at NECC • User Events • Discovery Education invited local teachers to spend the day at the Discovery Pro Cycling Team VIP tent during the Dodge Tour de Georgia, followed by a private cocktail reception with the team, including Lance Armstrong • Best practices • KOCE public broadcasting and Discovery education filmed a local California teacher using unitedstreaming clips as an introduction to an online video broadcast with a classroom in Tasmania! • Teacher-to-Teacher training • Need something for here!
