  2. WHAT IS CATARACT • Cataract is the clouding of one or both lenses of the eye, hampering clear vision

  3. CAUSES • Cataract can be caused by genetic conditions or: 1. Physical reasons 2. Chemical reasons 3. Drug reasons

  4. TREATMENT • Eye surgery is the most effective method to get rid of cataract.

  5. THE PROCEDURE • Eye surgery for cataract treatment involves removal of the natural lens and replacement with an artificial one.

  6. TYPES OF CATARACT There are 3 types of cataract named after where they are found in the lens: • Nuclear • Cortical • Posterior Subcapsular (popular amongst youth)

  7. FACTORS THAT CONTRIBUTE TO CATARACT Some key factors can affect your risk of cataract: • Smoking • Old age • Obesity
