  2. Colored Lightning Colored lightning is actually atmospheric pollution. Normally, lightning is blue white and is very hot. But when it passes through dust or other pollutants it becomes a color.

  3. Storm Chasers Each spring, weather patterns across the Great Plains, also known as Tornado Alley, create the some of the most deadliest and violent outbreaks. Each year a group of the world’s best tornado experts go to Tornado Alley to track down the tornados and learn more about them. Equipment: GR Level Radar, Garman GPS, HP Pavilion Laptop, HD Camera, & In Speed Wind Reader What they do: Provide weather data to local media and the NWS as it happens Is it scary: (opinion) Not really. More of a thrill.

  5. El Nino El Nino is an abnormal warming of surface ocean waters in the eastern tropical Pacific, is one part of what's called the Southern Oscillation. The Southern Oscillation is the up and down pattern of reversing surface air pressure between the eastern and western tropical Pacific; when the surface pressure is high in the eastern tropical Pacific it is low in the western tropical Pacific, and vice-versa. Because the ocean warming and pressure reversals are, for the most part the same, scientists call this phenomenon the El Nino, Southern Oscillation, or ENSO for short. South American fisherman have given this phenomenon the name El Nino. Scientists are trying to learn more about El Nino to be able to give people warnings in the future.

  6. Raining Fish Raining fish is an event that has occurred many times in the last century in places as far apart as California and India. Scientists have been studying this phenomenon for many years, and the most recent explanation is the occurrence of waterspouts. A waterspout is literally a tornado which takes place on water. They occur when cold air moves over warm water. This can cause some serious winds which have been recorded as high as 200 mph. Anything that gets in the path of a waterspout is going to be picked up and thrust into the air. This is precisely what happens when it starts raining fish. The waterspout with all of its wind speed still present moves from water onto land and carries with it anything that crosses its path. It picks up fish, frogs and debris out of the water, deposits them in a cloud and proceeds to carry them for several miles.

  7. Northern Lights Northern Lights have to have the following: • Have to be in pitch black darkness • Occur in the Arctic Circle Northern Lights are winds from the sun that have been going on for many years straight. A while ago these lights were predicted to stop, but for some reason didn’t.
