Time • Radiation exposure is dependent on the length of the exposure. • Obviously, if you are exposed for 1 minute you will receive a lower dose than if you are exposed for 5 minutes. • The assumption here is that the dose rate remains constant
For radiologic technologists you should only be exposed during fluoroscopy exams. • Unfortunately, you will have little control during these of the exposure time. Consequently, you will need to distance and shielding to minimize your exposure.
Distance • As the diagram demonstrates x-rays diverge from their source. Therefore, the farther away you are from the source the less your exposure will be
