Concours Class Awards • Concours Class Awards:- Cars divided into roughly similar classes (varies with number of entries)- Cars in each class compete against standards. > or equal 95 points = Platinum Award (all qualified are eligible for major award) > or equal 90 points = Gold Award (one) > or equal 85 points = Silver Award (one) • Major concours awards:(chief class judges, unanimous concurrence)Subjective: race history, difficulty of restoration, rarity, etc.
Major Concours Awards • Process: • Chief class judges review all Platinum Award winners to determine major awards • Decisions are unanimous • Awards: • Enzo Ferrari Award – overall best of show • Luigi Chinetti Award – outstanding road Ferrari • Phil Hill Award – outstanding Ferrari competition car • National Vintage Preservation Award – best unrestored Ferrari pre-1980 • National Classic Preservation Award – best unrestored Ferrari 1980 to 1995 (must be at least 15 years old) • Forza Ferrari Award – outstanding Ferrari built in the 1950s • Trofeo Gran Turismo Award – outstanding pre- 1968 Ferrari, regularly driven • Grand Touring 2+2 Award – outstanding 2+2 Ferrari that is regularly driven • Dino Ferrari Award – outstanding 2 – series Dino Ferrari • Contemporary Ferrari Award – outstanding Ferrari built 1975 or later • Forte Award – outstanding flat 12 cylinder Ferrari • Alla Vettura Pronta per il Salone Award – best prepared 8-cylinder Ferrari • NART Award – outstanding NART Ferrari
Concours Judging GuidelinesInternational Advisory Council for the Preservation of the Ferrari Automobile (IAC/PFA) • Promote the preservation of the Ferrari in the original state. • Focus on originality, authenticity and condition – secondary emphasis on cosmetics • Convertible conversions or unauthorized rebodies are ineligible for judging • Driven onto field – fully assembled • Owner, or designated representative, present during judging • Judged by 3 judge team: Interior, Exterior, Engine/Chassis • At start of judging, each car is assumed to have 100 points. Deductions up to 5 points are taken on each component judged • Judges will ask that all components be demonstrated (windows, engine, instruments, doors, lights, etc) • Tell the judges of unusual features – provide documentation • Ferrari Classiche Certification – authenticates mechanical condition
Concours Judging Guidelines (cont.) • Top up or removable panel in place. • Engine will be run and checked for leaks, smooth idle, instruments, etc. • Factory options are considered original, after-market is not. • Factory-provided pollution equipment in place w/ working appearance • Replacement items must be similar in size, characteristics, and appearance as original (tires, battery, windows, spark plugs, filters, etc.) • All originally provided tools, manuals, etc. (good reprints ok) • Safety items such as seat belts, fire extinguisher, side mirror, and alarm must be unobtrusive and neat • Options – must be as described on the window sticker or invoice. • Typical problems collectively taking you out of Platinum • Incorrect plug wires; lack of correct O-rings • Air cleaner ratty; wrong fuel and brake M/C hoses • Corrosion on various components • Incorrect plating; incorrect hoses and hose clamps; wrong exhaust pipe clamps; • Battery wrong size • Heat shrink tubing; windshield washer leak; fuel or oil leaks; ty wraps • Exhaust leaks; incorrect screws; incorrect alternator; engine fuel leaks • Aftermarket exhaust – rarely • Wrong tires or wheel • Completely missing tools and manuals and pouch • No original floor mats, incorrect replacement seat material, roof liner, trunk carpet • Wrong tires or wheels
Checking the Interior • Minimal deduction for minor wear areas • Everything must work - clock, ammeter, instrument lights, windshield washer, interior lights, choke light, backup light, etc. • Seats / door panels / carpet - must be of similar material as original (leather, vinyl, cloth) and assembled as original (seat pleating, piping, door map pockets) • Headliner - original style and color • Original steering wheel type – no after market • Windows - operate smoothly • Tools - manual, and spare must be as originally provided with the car • Trunk – correct carpet, interior light, paint, overflow hoses, etc. • Trim correct – screws (slotted vs. Phillips), bevels, washers, finish, etc. • Door gaskets / window seals - correct and in good condition • Seat belts ok – even if not originally fitted – if unobtrusive & well installed
Checking the Engine Compartment / Chassis • No fuel, oil or water leaks; clamps, hoses correct • Plating on clamps, pipes, nuts correct • Compartment / chassis paint correct • Decals in place – DoT, EPA, firing order, paint, maintenance, etc. • Radiator, air cleaner, cam covers, correct paint • Smooth idle, no exhaust leaks • Tires, wheels, wheel markings, brakes, hoses, paint, undercoat • Plating of metal components original; Correct engine type and number • Insulators for spark plugs, condensers, modules, etc. • Ty wraps, heat shrink tubing; Battery and cables
Checking the Exterior • Tires, wheels, and knockoffs correct – check valve stems & caps • Badges – correct for car with correct plating / style • Glass – correct size and fit – does not need original logo • Color: must be one offered on that model car at the time of sale • Correct lenses on tail lights, turn signals, headlights • All exterior and interior lights must work properly • Paint / chrome good and fits, but does not have to be spotless • Top same style, material, and assembly as original • Rear view mirror, radio antenna, etc. “neat, unobtrusive, . . .” • Panel fit • Bumper fit • Main objective: Car must be as it left the factory

Coppa Bella Macchina • Objective: recognition for Ferraris that are in exceptionally good working order, and every component and accessory works precisely as delivered from the factory under driving conditions • Prerequisites: 95 points or better in Concours (Platinum Award) and have entered the CBM (also: ownershows car, driver’s license, insurance, registration) • Procedure: Detailed operational evaluation checklist. Overall Pass or Fail • Static portion • Road test • In case of a problem: One hour to fix the problem • Preparation: Check your own car before the evaluation (checklist / manual) • Historical failures: • Windshield wipers don’t work • No / inoperable trouble light • A/C or radio does not work – tape player? • Glove box does not lock – no key • No proof of ownership • Engine missfire • Turn signals don’t self cancel • Clock does not work • Seat belts don’t work • Windshield washer doesn’t work • Door locks don’t function correctly • Flashlight does not work • Glove box cover does not stay up. • Trunk / engine cover does not stay up

Coppa GTHighest award an individual can receive in the FCA • Objective: - Evaluation of driver skills on the track • Considering the car’s capabilities • Lap times should be consistent with the car’s capabilities. • Evaluation:by local track evaluators familiar with FCA objectives • Safety equipment • Attitude and preparedness • Knowledge and awareness • Skills when approaching the limit • Progress • Dealing with the unexpected • Skill in driving the car • Comply with all local track / safety rules • Suggestions • Drive your car on the street – gain experience • Get track instruction and experience – preferably at CGT track • Historical problems • General lack of familiarity with car (acceleration, braking, placement on track) • Smoothly shifting car • Passing under yellow • Competently do “heel and toe” – where applicable • Unfamiliar with track • Unfamiliar with car’s capabilities, tentative
Futuro Classico Encourage owners to keep Ferraris in their original state with all the accessories - Document the as-delivered condition - Establish a database for future use
