antibody tests for inflammatory bowel disease

Inflammation is a vital part of the body's immune response. It is a process by which the body's white blood cells and substances they produced protect us from infection with foreign organisms, such as viruses and bacteria; and repair damaged tissue.

  1. Inflammatory Inflammation is a vital part of the body's immune response. It is a process by which the body's white blood cells and substances they produced protect us from infection with foreign organisms, such as viruses and bacteria; and repair damaged tissue. Inflammation helps wounds heal. Without inflammation, wounds would fester and infections could become deadly. However, inflammation can also be problematic and eventually cause several diseases and conditions. Inflammation is often characterized by redness, swelling, warmth, and sometimes joint pain and some immobility, which may also be associated with general flu-like symptoms including: fever, chills, fatigue/loss of energy, headaches, loss of appetite, muscle stiffness. Inflammation has been found to be associated with just about every health condition. Inflammation can affect organs as part of an autoimmune disorder. The type of symptoms depends on organs that are affected: Inflammation of the small tubes that transport air to the lungs may cause shortness of breath. Inflammation of the heart (myocarditis) may cause shortness of breath or fluid retention. Inflammation of the kidneys (nephritis) may cause high blood pressure or kidney failure.    There are two different types of inflammation: acute and chronic (sometimes called systemic) inflammation. While acute inflammation arises after a cut or scrape in the skin, an infected ingrown nail, a sprained ankle, a blow, a sore throat from a cold or flu,

  2. or exercise (especially intense training), which starts quickly and generally disappears in a few days. Examples of diseases and conditions with acute inflammation include: Acute bronchitis Acute appendicitis Acute dermatitis Acute tonsillitis Acute infective meningitis Acute sinusitis       Chronic inflammation is long-term that can last for months or years as a result of failure to eliminate the cause and minor, repeated exposure to the agent, an autoimmune response to a self-antigen, or a chronic irritant of low intensity that persists. It occurs in conditions including: Osteoarthritis Chronic sinusitis Chronic active hepatitis Inflammatory bowel disease Chronic peptic ulcer Chronic periodontitis Tuberculosis Lupus Rheumatoid arthritis Allergies Asthma Ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease             Habitual or environmental factors, such as excess weight, poor diet, lack of exercise, stress, smoking, pollution, poor oral health, excessive alcohol consumption, minor food allergies, a sedentary lifestyle and more can contribute to chronic inflammation. There are a number of tests and procedures to diagnose conditions involving the inflammation caused disease.
