Nation-wide Backbone Provincial Network Core Node Aggregation Node Backbone Node Common Node Logical Structure of CMNet
Structure of CMNet • 2-level structure including nation-wide backbone network and provincial network. • Provincial networks are interconnected through the nation-wide backbone. • Two types of nation-wide backbone nodes: backbone node and core node. In principle, core nodes are connected fully-meshed, in order to save links, they are partly connected fully-meshed recently.
Structure of CMNet • Backbone nodes are connected through core nodes. When necessary, the connection between two backbone nodes are permitted. • Two types of provincial nodes: aggregation node and common node. • Aggregation nodes are used to connect common nodes to the nation-wide backbone. In principle, Aggregation nodes are connected fully-meshed, in order to save links, we use partly full-mesh connections recently.
Structure of CMNet • Aggregation nodes are connected to the nation-wide backbone nodes directly. • In principle, common nodes are connected to the nation-wide backbone through aggregation nodes. When necessary, the direct connection between common nodes and backbone/core nodes are permitted.

How CMCC will construct its GPRS network? • Two level structure: • GPRS provincial network:provide GPRS carried service to end users • GPRS nation-wide backbone:Interconnect all the GPRS provincial networks to realize inter-province roaming; interconnected with other PLMN to realize inter-PLMN roaming.
usage of IP address • Use CMNet as IP backbone of GPRS network • GPRS node use public IP address • Usage of user address : • Dynamically allocated public IP address • Dynamically allocated private IP address and use NAT when access Internet • Statically allocated private IP address and use NAT when access Internet
