  2. Day 1 • Utopia: • An Ideal community or society possessing a perfect socio-politico-legal system. • Basically it is the perfect place to live. A haven for someone. • Ex: The capital in Hunger Games

  3. Day 1 • Dystopia: • The idea of a society in a repressive and controlled state, often under the guise of being utopian. • Basically when the Utopia doesn’t work. • Example: District 12 in Hunger games.

  4. Day 1 • Suspense: • A state of a condition of mental uncertainty or excitement, as in awaiting a decision or outcome, usually accompanied by a degree of apprehension or anxiety. • Example: Waiting for something scary or bad to happen: Spook Movie

  5. Day 2 • Conflict: • The struggle found in fiction. Conflict/Plot may be internal or external and is best seen in 1) Man in conflict with another man, 2) Man in conflict with nature, 3) Man in conflict with self.

  6. Day 2 • Irony: • Is an implied discrepancy between what is said and what is meant. The use of words to convey the opposite of their literal meaning; a statement or situation where the meaning I s contradicted by the appearance or presentation of the idea. • Example: Break a leg!

  7. Day 2 • Situational Irony: • A discrepancy between the expected result and the actual results. • Example: Sacrificing prized possessions to buy a gift only to realize they can’t use the gift bought for them. -Gift of Magi
