I. The Study of the Past • Every step we take in technology, science, education, literature, architecture, and other fields builds on what people did long ago in the past.
A. What is History? • Study of the past. • Historians study history to learn: • Problems and solutions. • How people lived their daily lives. • Culture- knowledge, beliefs, customs, and values of a group of people.
B. What is Archaeology? • Study of the past based on what people left behind. • Explore places people lived in and objects left behind.
