PRESENT SCHOOLS • Colegio de Bachilleres, UNAM (Technicians´ level) • Colegio de Bibliotecología, UNAM • Escuela de Bibliotecología, UNACH • Escuela de Bibliotecología, UASLP • Escuela de Ciencias de la Información Documental, UAEM • Escuela Nacional de Biblioteconomía y Archivonomía, SEP • Programa de Maestría en Bibliotecología, UANL

  4. CONTRIBUTION TO INFO-DEVELOPMENT • Although with few graduates, they play an important role in library development • Their graduates lead most of the best libraries in the country • Relevant contribution to library associations • Important presence in large cities

  5. MAIN CHARACTERISTICS • Small enrollment • Few or no full time professors • Small LIS libraries • Budgets are small • Small and outdated IT laboratories • Lecturers do their best with available resources • Focus on technical matters

  6. CHALLENGES • Increase number of schools • Modernize their curricula • Update “Clasic” librarianship • Increase access to information technology • Change their programs and names • Conduct research • Open Ph.D. Programs • Educate with modern competencies
