Group Group As Where are our thoughts and memories kept? Group B’s What makes us, ‘us’? Group C’s Do we have a soul that will never change or are we constantly changing as people?
Views on the mind Dualism • There are two different parts of a person- A mind (or Soul) and a body. • Our mind makes us who we are, our bodies are like an outer shell. • Whilst our bodies will decay, our minds/souls are immortal. Therefore there is a life after death. Materialism • Our minds are inseparable from our bodies. • Therefore a soul cannot exist after our physical bodies have died. • There is no life after death because: • -Life needs our brain, nervous system etc. to continue working. • -Death is the end of all of the above...therefore life can’t continue without a physical form.
