  2. Beginning • YTV was launched on September 1, 1988 with a preview special hosted by John Candy • It was one of the major cable networks on Canadian TV

  3. Programming Back Then • YTV was known for showing cartoons such as ReBoot, Rugrats, Teen Titans, Beast Wars, Hey Arnold, Spider-Man and Batman • It was also known for it’s exposure of anime to a new generation such as Pokémon, Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z • They were also known for showing British programming such as Classic Doctor Who, Red Dwarf and Are You Being Served?

  4. Anime • YTV was the main source of anime in basic cable, starting off with Sailor Moon, then with Pokémon and Digimon • In 2003, Inuyasha premiered, which gained popularity with it’s teen viewers and thus, Bionix was born.

  5. Bionix • Bionix was a block that was aired on Friday Nights at 9:00 pm-12:00 pm. Although it was switched to Saturday Nights on Late 2008 • It showed anime such as .Hack/Sign, Naruto, Bleach, Death Note, One Piece, Zatch Bell, Ghost in the Shell, Full Metal Alchemist. • Bionix also showed action cartoons such as Justice League Unlimited, Spider-Man, Avatar: The Last Airbender

  6. Programming Now • YTV now airs Nickelodeon cartoons/sitcoms and live-Action sitcoms/Reality Shows now. • YTV removed all of their anime, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh and Beyblade to TELETOON thanks to Corus Entertainment buying TELETOON

  7. The Zone • The Zone was a block that was hosted by Carlos which was previously hosted by Sugar as well. • It was one of the most well known and ongoing blocks on the Channel • The Zone aired on weekdays, 4:00-6:00 pm after kids went home from school.
