Presentation Overview • Company Experience • Challenges & Goals of E-Scrap Recyclers • Input Material Characterization • Targeted Materials & Commodities • MetalSort™ for Non-Ferrous and Stainless • e-Sort™ Overview and Advantages • User Interface & Sort Setup • Stand-alone Processing Systems • e-Sort™ Video Clips • Feasibility Study • New Developments & Challenges
A Leader in Automation & Optical Sorting 34 years of experience in optical sorting. More than 300 optical sorting systems installed.
Challenges & Goals of E-Scrap Recyclers • VERY inhomogeneous input materials: - Particle size distribution - Material Types • Difficulty in identifying (labels) different plastics and other materials. • Not fully developed markets in the US for durable plastics (domestic vs. export). • Increase Recovery/Yield - Maximize Profits
Particle Size vs. Interconnectivity Liberation Interconnectivity Harder to Identify Easier to Identify > 2” < 1/4”
Most Commonly Targeted Materials • ABS • HIPS • PC • Circuit Boards • Non-Ferrous Metals (incl. stainless) • Ferrous Metals
e-Sort™ Basics • Optical Sorting Module • Uses Near-Infrared (NIR) spectrometer to identify different plastic resins. • Uses Induction Metal Detector to identify ferrous, non-ferrous and stainless metals. • Color Detection Built-In or Optional. • Uses high-speed air jets to physically separate the targeted materials. • Installations in Ohio, California & Hong Kong.

e-Sort™ Advantages • One machine processes up to 3,000 kg/hr . • Up to 1600mm (64”) wide. • Features dual-eject system that is able to generate three output products from one input stream in just one pass: two positively ejected streams, one negative pass-through stream. • Can process multiple input streams in a batch-mode setup. Program change is done with just one button.
e-Sort™ Setup Configuration ABS is targeted for upward ejection; Printed Circuit Boards are targeted for downward ejection; HIPS, PC, etc. are targeted to be passed.
