El Barrio Gótico The Gothic Quarter – This is one of the oldest and most interesting parts of Barcelona. The buildings and monuments here date back to the 13th, 14th, and 15th centuries. Gothic architecture originated in 12th century France and is seen in many cathedrals, churches, castles, palaces and universities of Europe. This church is considered Gaudí’s unfinished masterpiece. He took over as architect of this building in 1884 and worked on it until his untimely death in 1926. He lived as a hermit on the site for these 40 years, but only completed the Nativity Façade. La Sagrada Familia
Originally intended to be a residential district for the wealthy, this area was aquired by the city in 1922 when it became a park. It was designed by Gaudí and contains columns, benches, statues, and sculptures covered with mosaics. El Parque Guell
At the top of Guell park is a terraced area where you get a wonderful view of the park and of Barcelona City. Here you will find multi-colored tiled mosaic seats as shown in this picture. The vibrant colors of the tiles are truly breathtaking. Park Guell also has a small house in the park which Gaudi lived in at one stage. The house has now been converted into a museum and contains interesting furniture also designed by Gaudi.
The park contains amazing stone structures stunning tiling and fascinating buildings. You can see from this picture the Gaudi dragon fountain that is at the entrance to Guell park. This dragon is adorned in beautiful colored tiling.

The olympic stadium ofMontjuic in Barcelona was built in 1929 but was modernized in 1992 when it finally hosted the Olympic Games. Originally it was supposed to host the Olympic Popular in 1936, a sort of counter-Olympic Games to the ones in Nazi-Germany at the time.
