Spaghetti • Long thin pasta from Italy.
Pizza • A popular Italian dish made with bread, tomatoes, and cheese (and other ingredients).
Mozzarella • An Italian cheese made by spinning and cutting (“mozzare” means to cut).
Déjà vu • French term meaning “already seen”
Cliché • When something has been so overused that it loses its intended force.
Bonjour • French word meaning “hello”
Bon appétit • French term meaning “enjoy your meal”
Rendezvous • French term meaning “a planned meeting between two parties”
Words derived from Spanish • Bravo – a shout of “bravo!” • Pronto – to do something quickly. • Amigo – a friend. • Fiesta – a party. • Adobe – a sundried brick made of clay and straw. • Rodeo – public display of cowboy skills (riding, roping, etc.) • Comandante – a commander.
