  2. Cortes was born in Extremadura in the South Central Spain. Extremadura is a small town. Cortes sailed from Cuba with his men, and explored what is now Yucatan Peninsula. He explored the land and discovered the capital of the Aztec Empire, called Tenochtitlan.

  3. Cortes is best known for exploring the Yucatan Peninsula. He his also best known for discovering the Aztec Empire, meeting the Aztec Indians, and conquering the Aztec Empire.

  4. Hernan Cortes made five total voyages. The time period of when Cortes explored was 1519 to 1521. Cortes explored about when he was in his 20’s. One interesting facts about Cortes is that he died when he was young, he died around the age 36. Another interesting fact is Cortes got appointed as governor after he conquered Mexico.
