3-2 dime/Eskimo 40/38 specialvs. Empty Why we call it a 32 is simple, we have DB´s-2 LB´s and 3 down lineman. 1.We want speed, the Dime backs which we call MONEY to be aggressive in coverage and coming up on the ball. 2.LB´s must be able to wall and play good Middle and Hook to curl 3.Speed on the DE`s and be able to Zone Blitz Cover 4.NG Must be able to handle the combo and and play 2 gap. The ESKIMO we use to freeze the QB if he is a runner and we run it like a 40 front, and we rely heavily on COV 3 and Zone Blitz with RAT cover by one of the Middle LB´s 38 special is prevent with mixed covers to try and get the ball back! Playing the No huddle Bubbles –Screens- Clearing Routes-Vertical's and Floods and running QB´s! Prevent

Each opponent has a signature, “What and why they play the way they do”, this is not to be confused with tendency's. A brief example is we have just finished playing a team that always relies on its “power" if it gets frustrated and it's goals are being diminished in the game it will go back to this! We planned our defense (not the 32 dime) to this factor, we took away the passing game and gambled that the team would go to this personality trait, it did and we won. Needless to say, that in the last 7 minutes of the 4th quarter, complete frustrated by no pass game, their power game being shut down they started using the option, what we feared in fact and were controlling the ball game but it was too late and we won by 15 points insuring a play-off berth. The gamble won for our part. This 32/40 defense was used the same way and was successful in keeping us in the ball game and allowing our stronger offense to help win the game. We knew that when they got in trouble with their passing game, they would rely on their QB to run in Empty, they were predictable in their running game so that made it easier so we focused on the QB. We even made a few errors and allowed him to get away but we still controlled that factor enough to win. Both of these games were played in different leagues , different players and different opponent's . The fact is that hard study, game plan and understanding the psyche of the team on the opposite side was instrumental in the outcome. This information is not earth shattering or genius and some coaching staffs do it at certain level and factor this in. All that I am saying is that it should be in the mix and taken a seriously in the total game plan and not be forgotten. Trust your team and players in what they do, but also trust that you can add to that factor and make a positive progression in the teams ability to reach its goals. Take the step when it is necessary, and do not fear expansion but understand its reasons and commit to it. Thank You Roldan Leyba
