  4. Mission To work with public and private partners to strengthen science-based HIV prevention efforts in states and local communities.

PPB AccomplishmentsFY 06-08 • Improved communications by centralizing the dissemination of information through our Program and Grants monitoring system (PGMS) i.e. Dear Colleague letters, notifications related to PEMs, updates, etc. • Established a response team and process to address internal and external program requests, Congressional inquiries, etc. • Requested feedback from grantees on the APR/IPR to improve structure, format, better define questions asked. • APR/IPR documents have become more standardized, somewhat streamlined, and aligned with the Guidance. • Conducted conference calls with the grantees (coordinated with NASTAD) to review the APR/IPR and respond to questions. • Established monthly meetings with PEB and CBB to strategize and enhance our coordination efforts. • Coordinated calls with grantee to include Team Leader and Project Officer to resolve issues.

PPB AccomplishmentsFY 06-08 • Continued to enhance our coordination efforts with NASTAD to problem-solve, address joint efforts and initiatives. • Improved coordination with the operations unit within the Division, PGO, and other key partners. • Developed a CBA plan for Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands. • Conducted a needs assessment in Louisiana after Katrina and District of Columbia in collaboration with the Division of STD. • To date we have conducted a total of __ site visits to the PS 07-768 grantees. • Coordinated with DHAP Lead Staff on PS07-768 CTR Initiative. • Conducted a total of 288.5 hours of training on DEBI’s, CTR, PCRS, CRCS, PEMS, CRIS, Surveillance, REP process and other relevant topics.

Moving Forward • PPB Programs and New Initiatives: • Continue to work closely with PS07-0768, launched September, 2007. • Request an additional year for PA04012 (currently extended to 2009). • Implement Early Diagnosis Program to be awarded May,2008. • Implement PR and VI Prevention projects to be awarded July, 2008. • Develop the re-compete for PA 04064 to be awarded July, 2009.

Moving Forward • PPB Management: • Articulate the priorities of the Branch on an annual basis through our 3 year Strategic Plan. • Collect qualitative and quantitative data to conduct analysis and identify trends in order to better address program needs and priorities, etc. • Foster and maintain effective collaboration within CDC, NASTAD, UCHAPS, and with our partners. • PPB Operations: • Simplify and standardize documents such as APR/IPR without compromising programmatic intent. • Standardize data collection and databases to facilitate development of site visit report, grantee intervention profiles, assessment tools, etc.
