WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES PRESENTED BY AGING LAWYERS?
WE KNOW SOMEONE IS IN TROUBLE – NOW WHAT DO “WE” DO?
WE TRIED GENTLE HINTS, WE TRIED GETTING HELP FROM COLLEAGUES/FAMILY/FRIENDS – NOTHING WORKED. NOW WHAT?
Why should we care? What are the reasons to report, the risks of not reporting, and to whom should we report?
BUT Spencer/Katherine have been stellar members of the Bar for 55 years with no discipline record – won’t reporting them to Lawyer Discipline cause them trouble? What is the role of Lawyer Regulation when presented with an aging lawyer charge?
So if the lawyer is not YET entangled in discipline/CPF, what else should be available to help transition the lawyer out of practice – with dignity?
Refocus the discussion: The “resource” that is the experienced lawyer.
