  9. GULF a part of an ocean or sea extending into the land

  10. HILL a mound of raised land that is smaller than a mountain

  11. ISLAND an area of land that is completely surrounded by water

  12. ISTHMUS a narrow strip of land that connects two large areas of land

  13. PENINSULA a strip of land that extends out into a body of water

  14. PLAINS a large area of flat land

  15. PLATEAU a large area of flat land that is raised higher than the land around it

  16. Mountain a large, tall, rocky area of land that comes up out of the earth’s surface

  17. STRAIT a narrow passage of water connecting two seas or two large areas of water
