  2. Introductions • Mr Payne– Head Teacher • Teachers: Mrs Dodd, Mr Smith • Teaching Assistants : Mrs Ozier, Miss Milliner, Miss Druce.

  3. Setting the standard Team work & personal responsibility – role models Monitors

  4. Class Structure Two classes Set for maths English taught in classes Flow between classes (project etc)

  5. Homework • Homework set on Thursday, due in Tuesday. • English activities will rotate between grammar, reading comprehension and writing tasks • Maths activities will rotate between MyMaths, Times Tables and written tasks • Reading – regularly and discussion. • Spellings – Monday to Monday. • Excuses & sanctions.

  6. Rewards and Sanctions • House points- children will be awarded house points for following the Golden Rules. Who will win the House Cup? • Class cup – individual award for going ‘above and beyond’ the Golden Rules & producing a ‘Wow’ moment. • SMART awards – outstanding neatness • Golden Time • Marble jar– Whole class reward • Marvellous Me – because they are!

Holidays • Our school year is very busy. 5 days of holiday or illness every year of primary school adds up to over half a term of missed learning! • We therefore ask that you avoid taking your child out of school for holidays during term time. We are unable to provide work for holiday absence. • Please be aware that government rules are tightening regarding holidays in term time and if absence is becoming an issue / affecting progress you may be liable for a fine.

  8. Learning Outside the Classroom • Games at King’s Park ~ Tuesdays • Kingswood • Others TBC.

  9. PSHE & SEAL • Hear to Help • We are developing independence and problem resolution in preparation for secondary school.

  10. How you can help at home • Encourage independence • Regular reading and discussion • Homework • Topic research • Maths and English games; go to the shops; plan the holiday • Keep them calm

  11. Reports • The annual written reports for parents and carers are sent out in the Spring term. • In addition, at the end of the school year you will receive a note detailing your child’s teacher assessed levels and SATS levels.

  12. SATS • Writing – teacher assessment on work from the whole year. May be moderated by LA. • Maths, Reading & Spelling, Grammar & Punctuation tests. • Revision in Spring term for homework.

Communication • Home School Book - child is responsible. • If we can help in a five-minute end-of-day chat, please catch us on the playground, after we’ve dismissed all the children. • If you have any concerns and worries about your child and their progress, or anything positive or important that would be helpful for us to know, please come and see us!
