Training & Quality Assurance 911 Communications Personal New Employees are required to complete a 4 week Training Academy and obtain certifications. The Academy consists of the following Scheduling and payroll procedures Emergency Management St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center Maryland State Police Animal Control Radio System overview EMS overview Fire Overview State Fire Marshal Board of Education County Tour Landmarks and addressing overview Customer Service Quality Assurance Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) Phones Systems Meters/NCIC Awareness Water Related Incidents Weather Incidents Review and Test/Quiz
Training & Quality Assurance • Required Training Certificates: • Emergency Telecommunicator Certification (ETC) • Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) Certification • Emergency Police Dispatcher (EPD) Certification • Emergency Fire Dispatcher (EFD) Certification • Maryland Electronic Telecommunications Enforcement Resource System (METERS)/National Crime Information Center (NCIC) • Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED through the American Heart Association • Once successfully complete the training academy the new employee is assigned to a Certified Training Officer- • Phase I- 160 hours- Navigating Special Operation Procedures, Human Recourse Policies, Geography and Mapping, Radio Verbiage, Basic CAD Functions, • Phase II – 150 hours - On the job Training - Phones and call taking - Radio - Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) - Customer Service • Phase III- Independent work, training objectives, Chart (trainee must explain, demonstrate and perform their duties)
