What engages someone? AWE. “What New York Times articles were forwarded the most?” Awe Awe is strongly related to viralty.
Outline • Our Moon: The NASA Lunar Science Institute • Rich student experiences • Personal and vibrant content exchange • Citizen Science • An invitation to YOU
What is NLSI? The NASA Lunar Science Institute (NLSI) is… • A virtual institute: Highly integrated teams connected through advanced communications tools • 7 funded US teams, 5 international partners • All things lunar, geared towards the needs of our space program
Student Programs • Website developed by high school students to engage the public in lunar science • NLSI Summer Internship programs

Citizen Science NLSI is a partner in the Moon Zoo project, set to launch very soon. NLSI involvement: • Science Team expertise and advising • Educational & Outreach Efforts • Closed Beta test NOW (ask me!)
Citizen Science Principles • can only be done via human crowd sourcing • will contribute to scientific literature • doable by all (with computer, no fancy equipment required)
