  2. Expatriate • Noun • A person who is forced to leave his or her native country • Verb • To exile The expatriate was forced to live in another country to avoid being tried for his crimes.

  4. genesis • Noun The beginning, origin, or way in which something was created. The genesis of her story was her recent trip to China.

  5. genetics • Noun The branch of biology dealing with heredity By studying genetics scientists are able to develop many cures for diseases.

  6. maternity • Adjective Concerning prospective mothers; for pregnant women The pregnant woman shopped for maternity clothes and baby furniture.

  7. matriarch • Noun The mother who rules the family or tribe. Rose was the matriarch of the family, and all important decisions had to be passed by her.
