  1. Do Now Your tribe of hunter-gatherers has lived in this place as long as you can remember. But now there are not enough animals to hunt. Whenever you find berries and roots, you have to share them with people from other tribes. Your leaders think it’s time to find a new home in the lands far beyond the mountains. But no one has ever traveled there and many people are afraid. How do you feel about moving to a new home?

  3. The Ice Ages • During Paleolithic age- world temperatures dropped • 1.6 million – 10,000 years ago • Ocean levels dropped • In response people began to migrate • Following herds of animals • Land Bridge- • connected two continents

People Adapt to New Environments • Mesolithic Era- Middle Stone Age, • (10,000-5,000 yrs.) • Many places were much colder than Africa • Adaptations: • Learned to sew animal skin to make clothing • Built pit houses, skin tents & then bone structured houses • More complex tools: • Fish hooks • Fishing spears • Bow & arrows • Canoes • Pottery • Domesticated dogs
