What does the Carburetor Do? Creates the AFM and controls how much AFM enters the engine
If opening is placed just past the narrowing, a vacuum is created
During the INTAKE strokeAir is pulled into the Carb through the Air Filter
The air speeds up and creates a vacuum and fuel enters the air stream though small holes at the narrowest part of the venturi
The amount of fuel brought into the air stream is regulated depending on:
At Start upWhen the engine is coldfuel vaporizes less readily
At Start upFuel tends to condense on the cylinder walls of the INTAKEmanifold
At Start upWhen the engine is coldfuel vaporizes less readily
At Start upTo make the AFM richer (more fuel than air)the CHOKE is opened
At Start upBy opening the CHOKE, air becomes starved and more fuel is allowed to enter the mix
At IdleAs the engine heats up, the choke gets shut off and regular flow resumes
At IdleIf the engine runs rough, you can adjust that amount of fuel flow with the Idle Set Screw
At IdleThis screw opens or closes the gap that fuel flows into the air stream through
