Jobs21! – Good Jobs for the 21st Century Jobs21! is a nationwide BlueGreen Alliance initiative to build the industries of tomorrow— renewable energy, energy efficiency, transportation, broadband, smart grid, green chemistry, and recycling — and drive a resurgence in the industries of today. With the right policies, new and existing businesses can thrive here in America, revitalizing our economy and creating and maintaining good, middle-class jobs across the nation.

10. A national, grassroots campaign Our tactics: • With 14 million BGA members and supporters, identify clean energy jobs supporters across the country. • Create clean energy jobs networks in each state. • Mobilize supporters around unifying, positive message.

A national, grassroots campaign Our tactics: • Conduct clean energy events, e.g. economic development forums, town hall meetings and editorial board visits. • Use work site events to highlight clean energy job creation. • Link clean energy job creation & defense of EPA and OSHA regulations. • Link job creation with job quality & workers’ rights. • Develop 3-4 high level spokespersons in every state.

12. The Jobs of the Future will be in the Clean Economy In 2011, global investment in clean energies topped $260 billion. Over the next decade, an estimated $2.3 trillion will be invested in clean technologies. But the U.S. is losing investment to countries like China and Germany.

13. Maintaining Competitiveness The U.S. must continue to support and fund: The Advanced Manufacturing Tax Credit (Section 48C) The Production Tax Credit

14. Section 48C Invested $2.3 billion for new, expanded, or retooled clean energy manufacturing facilities. Created and sustained thousands of American jobs. Despite a backlog of potential projects, funding for Section 48C has dried up.

15. Section 48C & Hemlock Semiconductor Received $141.8 million Section 48C tax credit to expand its Hemlock, MI production facility 800 construction jobs Up to 500 permanent new jobs

16. Production Tax Credit A renewable energies tax credit per KW of electricity produced. Crucial to the existence of an American wind industry. Set to expire at the end of 2012. Extending the tax credit through 2016 would create jobs and spur $28 billion in economic activity.
