  2. Vocabulary • Function – A rule for numbers which assigns every input to the rule an output. For each input there is only one possible output. • Inputs of the Function = Represented by the variable x. • Outputs of the Function = Represented by the variable y.

The Silent Function Game • An input/output table representing a function will be shown on the board. • Some of the inputs or outputs will be missing. • One student will use a marker to fill in one input or output. • If the student is correct they will earn one math buck. • Without talking the student will then pass the marker to another person to fill in another input/output. The final student will write the rule for the function.
